Everything We Learnt From Rihanna's Historic Vogue Feature

Rihanna is the first black woman to appear on the cover of British Vogue in the magazine’s 102 year history. The singer, beauty guru and unapologetic feminist appeared on Vogue‘s new September issue paired with an utterly gorgeous floral-themed shoot. The superstar’s featured interview, in true Rihanna fashion, was delightfully candid, giving reader’s insight into her take on body positivity and relationships.

Rihanna has had a string of high-profile romances, most notably with fellow hip hop star, Drake. The Bajan beauty gave her fans some real-world relationship advice. I get a lot of boy-advice questions. I think a lot of people meet people and then they’re dating the idea of what the person could become, and that person never shows up and then they’re just mad disappointed,” the cover girl shared. “A person can always get better, they can always get worse, but you’ve got to be fine with what you met them as.

The Fenty Beauty founder also gave some sage advice about the importance of surrounding yourself with positive people who elevate you. “I’m very picky about friends. I don’t like to open myself up to everyone, and so when you find people who are great and loyal, you don’t want to let go of that,” the 30-year-old said. “I’ve been out here on my own since I was a teenager, so these people become like your family.”

Rihanna has always been a body positivity advocate. The star got real about her fluctuating body type. When asked about her curvier figure that has led to both men and women proclaiming her physique as ‘body goals,’ she shared, “…Maybe it’s because I’m ‘thicc’ now. I don’t know…I’m about to get back into the gym and stuff, and I hope I don’t lose my butt or my hips or all of my thighs. I’ll lose some, but not all.”
The the issue featuring the already iconic cover and interview is on newsstands now.
