The day has finally arrived, The Lion King had its premiere in the United Kingdom which brought its illustrious cast into the path of the British Royal family who was in attendance. The new film features the voices of Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner who are pretty big names themselves. However, as they knew the Royals would be in attendance the liaison between the public relations team for the Windsors and the Disney cast informed them that there were a few very specific protocols they would have to adhere to if they wanted to interact with them. This crash course in royal etiquette was a bit of a surprise, especially for someone like Beyoncé who is basically royalty in her own right, just of the self-made kind.
The Protocols
In terms of the protocol, it came down to two very important factors. The first was how to address the royals properly and the second was how to know when to speak and when not to speak. When meeting a royal you are supposed to say “Your Royal Highness” and to make it even more intense you cannot actually speak to a royal until they have offered you their hand to shake and you are in the process of shaking it. Guests of the stars of the film were expected to stand behind the stars and only spoke if they were spoken to, if not they had to remain silent.
Which Royals Were In Attendance
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle accompanied her husband Prince Harry to the premiere on another outing after the recent birth of their first son baby Archie. It would appear that Meghan’s maternity leave was short-lived and that she is now back out about in society once more. Beyoncé and she shared an exchange about her new son. Apparently, it was like they were old friends which is kind of funny considering Meghan was just a simple television actress before her new role as a royal and Beyoncé is a musical legend on par with the likes of Tina Turner. Seth Rogen also got to meet the lovely couple, along with Keegan Peele and the other stars of the film. Meghan and Harry did not appear to stand on ceremony too much and simply wanted to congratulate everyone on the film. This only makes us want to see the new film more now. It has the royal seal of approval.
